Learning the AlphaBOP!

At this year's prekindergarten promotion ceremonies, students performed the song "AlpahBOP!" under the coordination of music teacher, Ms. Kymeron Carter.  Learning and performing songs allow students to demonstrate that they can establish and maintain a steady beat while posturing and moving their bodies along to the music.  Ms. Carter notes (no pun intended) that teaching students a song ny rote improves memory and cognitive skills.

"AlphaBOP!" also features student speaking roles.  Students were given lyric sheets for practice both in the classroom and at home.  When practicing in the cafeteria for the final performance, Ms. Carter emphasized impulse control with students by working on volume control and establishing a singing voice.  This performance was a wonderful addition to the promotion ceremony.
