Welcome Back 2023
Greetings, Prospect Academy Families
The Prospect Academy team would like to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year. Research has proven that the first 2,000 days of a child’s life (from conception to age 5) are the most important days for their brains to develop and create a foundation for all future learning. We at Prospect Academy are truly excited to walk these foundational days with you! At Prospect Academy, our pedagogical approach to learning and brain development is from an inquiry play-based environment. With your support, we will provide an environment for our children that is fun, safe, and rich with learning opportunities.
To start our school year, here are some important dates to mark on your calendar:
· Preschool assessments- Thursday, August 24th
· Parent Orientation- Monday, August 28th
· Home Visits- Tuesday, August 29th, and Wednesday, August 30th
· First day of school- Tuesday, September 5th
The school day here at Prospect Academy begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday (no school for students on Fridays). Breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m., and students are marked tardy at 8:40 a.m. We understand that your child may not want breakfast, but our instructional time in preschool begins during breakfast. Arrivals after 9:00 a.m. must accompany a doctor’s note.
Over the summer, teams have worked diligently to prepare for the return of our staff, children, and families. During Orientation, please take note of some of our revisions:
· New main office space
· New flooring on the second floor
· New Air conditioning units throughout the entire building
· New cafeteria furniture for our students
· New technology in each classroom
· New Curriculum
· Revised parent handbook
· Parent Café
· New room assignments and names
· Sensory rooms
Due to limited space in our preschool program, please ensure you have completed all required enrollment documentation by Monday, August 7th. If you have completed all the necessary documentation by this date, you will receive a call from our office by Friday, August 11th notifying you of your child’s preschool assessment time.
Finally, as the most important person in your child’s life, we are encouraging you to walk this journey with us by doing just a few of the following: building positive relationships with the team here at Prospect Academy, volunteering, participating in our PTA and Head Start Policy Council, and participating in building and district events. It takes a village to raise our next generation of leaders; its foundation begins here at Prospect Academy!
