Welcome to the 2022-23 School Year

  • August 1, 2023

Welcome back to another wonderful school year at Superior School for the Performing Arts.  Last year was our inaugural year at Superior School for the Performing Arts, and both the staff and students learned a great deal in their academic classes, and specialty classes---art, dance, drama, and music.  A few of the highlights of the 2022-2023 school year were: The students,  along with the support of the staff, starred in The Elements of Art You Tube video, were featured on Channel 5/WEWS during for their Winter Show for All Seasons, and collaborated with Karamu House to create a play/musical featured in the District’s Spring Extravaganza in May 2023.

In our core classes, we piloted new curricula in both ELA and mathematics. In ELA, we piloted Wit and Wisdom, where each module opens with a piece of art and students are challenged to answer what they notice and what they wonder.  These critical skills are then used when students are exposed to new reading passages. In mathematics, we piloted Eureka Math, where students are challenged to think about math critically and show their work when solving via pictures, words, and numbers.

In all, we had a great first year, and plan to have an even better and prosperous year during the 2023-2024 school year by:

-All students showing growth in reading and math academic achievement

    - Having 90% or better attendance overall in each grade level represented at Superior School for the Performing Arts

    - All students expanding their knowledge and performance abilities in art, dance, drama, and music.

Lastly, I look forward to partnering with our students, parents, staff, community, and the entire East Cleveland City School family to make the 2023-2024 school year a positive and impactful year at Superior School for the Performing Arts.
